GSU Makes Another Major Weed Bust

Last night we told you how the GSU busted a hundred pounds of marijuana in a sting operation, well tonight, the unit is reporting the seizure of 22 pounds of weed in Belize City. It was found yesterday afternoon in a swamp in the Dyke area located off Faber's Road Extension. The unit found an old refrigerator in the swamp, and inside they found a large garbage bag stuffed with 10 small black bags with a combined weight of 1.6 kilograms.

About a hundred yards away, the officers came upon a large blue chlorine bucket and inside that they found 65 small black plastic bags weighing a total of 7.4 kilograms. Also inside the same bucket was 1 parcel of compressed high grade weed weighing 1 kilo. All the drugs combined weighed a total of 10 kilos, or 22 pounds.

No one was found in the immediate area, but the GSU says it is close to a reputed drug trafficker's residence.

And in an update on the trio that the GSU netted in the 100 pound sting operation, the two who were caught, were arraigned before San Ignacio Magistrate today where they both pleaded not guilty and were remanded until February 27, 2014.

Sergio VEGA and Gustavo RUIZ jr were jointly charged for one count of Possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply, Being concerned in the supply of a controlled drug to another, and Supplying a controlled drug to another.

Sergio VEGA was additionally charged for one count of "Being concerned in the making of an offer to supply a controlled drug to another, Offering to supply a controlled drug to another, and Conspiracy to commit the crime of supplying a controlled drug to another.

An arrest warrant remains in effect for Anibal Gabino GARCIA who is still at large and will also be charged for all six offences.
