MIT Gets One Kilo At the Benque Border

Last night we told you about the Guatemalan car with drugs that was intercepted at the Western Border. Information was sketchy at news time because the bust was made at 4:30pm and the search of the car was ongoing.

Well tonight, the Mobile Interdiction Team is reporting that their K-9 officer named "Toonje" sniffed something illegal in the rear of the car. A search was conducted and it led to the discovery of one 1 Kilo of cocaine stuffed beneath the right rear passenger seat. Occupants of the vehicle were 23 year old Robin Danilo Carias Veliz, an unemployed of San Luis, Guatemala and 23 year old Jonathan Gregorio Adolfo Chacon Sandoval, an unemployed of Chiquimula, Guatemala. Both were arrested and charged for Drug Trafficking. They appeared in San Ignacio Magistrate Court today. Jonathan Sandoval pleaded guilty and was fined one hundred thousand dollars plus a five dollar cost of court and sentenced to 3 years of Imprisonment. Robin Veliz pleaded not guilty and was remanded until December 20th, 2013.
