Family Fears Worse For Missing Man
posted (October 28, 2013)
Tonight a Belize City man is missing and his family fears for the worst. 27 year old Nigel Ferguson went missing 2 Sundays ago on October 14th. That was the same day he was released from police custody after being detained for questioning for the murder of 28 year old Deon Yorke - who was shot and killed on October 19th. What got family members worried was when Yorke's bungalow house was set on fire last Tuesday night. Today 7news spoke with Ferguson's sister in an off camera interview.

"Everybody wants to know where he is and they wants to know if anything happened to him because after he was locked down and they let him out nobody has heard from him after that. He came home took a bath and change and said that he was going to see a friend and that was it."

"When he came out we heard that police had taken him again. After the house was torched on Tuesday night - he wasn't at home. We went there and he was nowhere to be found. We just assume that it was foul play or something like that because he didn't have electricity and he is someone who doesn't use candles and light. He deal with phone light and when he comes in he goes straight to bed and out in the morning."

"Have you guys tried to contact him on his cell phone?"

Voice Of: Tyeshia Garnet, sister of missing man
"Yes. Ever since we went to police station and we were told that he wasn't there we tried calling him and we can't get him. The phone just ring and it goes to voicemail."

Monica Bodden
"Has he ever gone for long periods of time without communicating with his family or was this the first?"

Voice Of: Tyeshia Garnet, sister of missing man
"The most he would go is like 24 hours and even if we didn't see him and we call, he would answer his phone especially if it was I or his close cousin - as long as he knows the number he would answer."

Monica Bodden
"At this time do you guys feel that something bad may have happened to him?"

Voice Of: Tyeshia Garnet, sister of missing man
"Me yes, I do."

Monica Bodden
"Why is that?"
