Waste Control Snipes At Mayor, Calling Him “Dismissive”, Untruthful
posted (October 29, 2013)
Yesterday, Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley told the media that the City Council was only ten weeks behind in its payments to Belize Waste Control. He added that this is about the same as last year. Well, Waste Control, which usually keeps a low public profile, shot back today with a scathing press release. It says Bradley's statement is untrue; the last payment was for the week of July 15 - 19th and it was received on October third. So, the weeks outstanding number 15 - not ten, extending from July 22nd to November first.

The Mayor also said the council will pay in December, which Waste Control says would bring it to 19 weeks, which their press release says is, quote, completely unreasonable for any business to operate."

The statement adds that under mayor Zenaida Moya, arrears never extended beyond 8 weeks and quote, "Waste Control received information directly from her, not through media interviews," end quote.

The release refers to what it calls quote, "(a) dismissive reputation earned...in short time in office" for Mayor Bradley, but adds that the company welcomes an opportunity to communicate directly with him.
