posted (November 20, 2013)

His fellow inmate, 23 year-old John Faber is also spending the third night of a 5-year sentence after he was found guilty of firearm offences before Senior Magistrate Frazer.

The arresting officers testified that on July 16, 2011, they received information of a crime being committed, and as a result, they started to trail Faber's pickup truck which he was driving. While on Faber's Road, they stopped the vehicle and a man and a woman got out. When Faber got out, he ran into a yard trying to escape from police. He was detained, and they found a 9mm pistol, which was loaded with 2 live rounds behind a house he was hiding. He was charged with keeping an unlicensed firearm, and keeping unlicensed ammunition.

Faber didn't help his case when he admitted to the court that he didn't stop when he was ordered to, because – according to him – he had marijuana on him at the time.

Senior Magistrate Frazer found him guilty of both offences, and sentenced him to a total of 5 years in prison.
