AND, there is another death to report on tonight. This time, the victim died in a traffic accident on Saturday Morning. Police have not sent any official details on the accident as yet, but 7News has confirmed that Independence Resident, Victoria Bol, who is originally from Silk Grass was killed when the vehicle she was in collided with a Special Branch van.
Inside the van were all off-duty police officers coming from a department party, some of whom are attached to Belmopan Police, and today, the Officer Commanding that station updated the media on the information they have so far. Here's what he told us:

"Police responded to a fatal traffic accident on Saturday morning around 12:45 where they saw two vehicles: one was a pickup GMC truck was extensively damaged and then a van. The van was traveling in the direction to Belize City, while the other vehicle was traveling in the opposite direction when they collided and unfortunately we had a fatality."

"What can you tell us about the individuals who were in the vehicle sir?"
ASP Sinquest Martinez
"The van was occupied by four police officers. Thank god, luckily, no one was hurt in the van. In the pick up three persons were traveling in the GMC pickup truck and one person lost their life."

"What can you tell us at this time police are seeing in terms of the accident, how it happened sir?"
ASP Sinquest Martinez
"We are still at an early stage pertaining to the investigation. We are continuing to interview our officers. Two persons are presently admitted to the Western Regional Hospital. We are working along with the Fire Department because they assisted us in taking out the person that was trapped in the vehicle."

"We understand that notice of intended persecution had been handed to the driver of the police van. Could you tell us about that?"
ASP Sinquest Martinez
"Both drivers have been served with a notice of intended persecution."
Reporter
"If so be the case that your officer is culpable, what would be the next move?"
ASP Sinquest Martinez
"We will conduct a fair investigation after which we will send the file to the DPP for us to get her advice on it."

"Is it treated only as a criminal investigation at this time?"
ASP Sinquest Martinez
"It's a traffic investigation that we are dealing with right now."
Police are still investigating the cause of the accident, and all 5 officers were off-duty at the time of the accident.
