Brother: Victoria Bol Didn’t Have To Die, WRH Had No Ambulance
posted (December 24, 2013)
Last night we told you about the accident which claimed the life of 42 year old Independence Village resident Victoria Bol. On Saturday morning she was in a GMC pickup when the vehicle she was in collided with an unmarked police van. But beside being another saddening statistic, she's also the mother of five - her two youngest still in high school.

Today her brother told us that they had already made plans to spend Christmas with their parents in Silk Grass. He feels that she could have been saved, but there was no ambulance to rpeosnd to the accident which happened within Belmopan City limits:

Alfaro Bol, Brother of Victoria Bol
"At this moment it is hard upon us as a family; my mom, dad, her kids, brother and sisters. This is a festive time. Time of gifts and for us it's the opposite. There is no time to die especially this time of the year. It's very disheartened; I don't know what to say. it's a tragic loss, abruptly her life just gone just like that. She was very healthy and strong. She was working as a bartender, doing well in life."

"What I leant from several persons who were on the scene because I saw footage of it last night on the news and when I saw the wreckage and so forth, there were many people out there trying to assist and I am grateful for those who assisted in any way trying to take her out of the vehicle. Apparently, I was made to understand from those on the scene that she was still breathing, she was still alive. But what I am disappointed at, very appalled at the situation that the capitol Belmopan, it seems doesn't have an ambulance to respond to these accidents or murder or whatever the case may be. This is discouraging because, how could you not have an ambulance."

"My dear sister, I'll miss her, she is gone and we can't bring her back. It's very hard, you see other people celebrating and every year come this time of the year from now on, I am not even in the spirit of the Christmas mood per say; this is Christmas eve and I don't even feel it. We shop, but for dresses to mourn and clothes to wear my wife and family and so forth, it's very hard."

Both drivers have been served with notices of intended prosecution.

She will be buried on Saturday at the Baptist Church in Silk Grass.

Indeed, the ambulance at the Western Regional is not working, but we could not get any comment from the ministry of health to tell us when it will be fixed. The often available CEO Peter Allen did not return our requests for a comment.
