posted (January 22, 2014)

Last night, 7News told you about the body that San Ignacio Police found in the La Gracia area on Sunday afternoon. Police said that he was 20 year-old Marlon Balona, but they've got in contact with Marlon's family from Valley of Peace, and they've found out that his correct name is Marlon Effrain Flores.

The post-mortem conducted on him certified that he died of those injuries to the neck and chest, and at this time police can't say that if someone inflicted them on him, or if he received them from an accident. As such, the investigation into his death remains open and continues to be treated as a murder. As we told you, he was a suspect that Belmopan Police wanted to question in connection with the murder of Canadian Brian Townsend from the Valley of Peace.

And in an update to the story we told you about 27 year-old Kevin "Midget" Manzanero, San Ignacio Police confirmed to 7News that he had to be transferred from the San Ignacio Hospital, to the KHMH to received treatment for the chop wounds he received when he tried to commit another burglary. 7News understands that the chop wound to the right side of his face is severe enough where he is in danger of losing his right eye. He remains under guard at the KHMH, and as soon as he is well enough, he will be taken in for questioning for a series of crimes in December, including the murder of 57 Year-old Cayo Resident Fredy Lopez Sr.

As we told you, Manzanero allegedly tried to commit another aggravated burglar on a family home on Collin's Boulevard, San Ignacio. The owners were alerted to his presence in their house, and one of them got into a struggle with him. Another family member grabbed a machete and chopped him on both arms, the right side of his face, and the right side of his neck. These injuries needed medical attention, and that's how he ended up at the San Ignacio Hospital.
Police continue to search for Alex "Cat" Reid, who is believed to have been his accomplice for these crimes.
