posted (February 3, 2014)
Last week we told you about 8 year old Maravella Che - the standard one student who was knocked down in front of her home in Tambran Village in the Toledo District. It was a hit and run incident that has left Maravella with a fractured skull, a broken leg and a broken arm. Today makes one week since the accident and little Maravella has been showing s signs of progress. According to nurses, she has at least 2 more weeks in the hospital before she can be discharged. Today Monica Bodden visited her in the paediatric ward at the KHMH.

Monica Bodden
"How are you feeling?"

Maravella Che, Hit and Run Victim
"Hot miss."

Monica Bodden
"Tell me what part of your body hurts the most?"

Maravella Che, Hit and Run Victim
"My hands."

Monica Bodden "And apart from that, your legs?"

Maravella Che, Hit and Run Victim
"Yes."

Domingo Che, Father
"She is feeling better right now, but not really fine. I don't know when she can get up. She is talking right now and eating."

Monica Bodden
"She has come a long way. This is good news."

Domingo Che, Father
"Yes I know. I try to explain to the police in Punta Gorda. I want to know how the investigation is going because this is very hard for me. Here I am spending a lot of money and I need help."

Monica Bodden
"How expensive this is for you to be here? I understand you have other children and your wife in the village of Tambran. Only you alone are staying here."

Domingo Che, Father
"My wife is at home. It's very expensive here. I have to maintain my house and I don't know what she is doing right now. I am confused because I am far away."

Maravella Che, Hit and Run Victim
"Thanks, I am very good and I love you."

Monica Bodden
"You are going to get better soon right?"

Maravella Che, Hit and Run Victim
"Yes."

Monica Bodden
"You missed all your friends at school and all your brothers and sisters at home?"

Maravella Che, Hit and Run Victim
"Yes, two at home."

Reports are that after the little girl was hit, the driver of the vehicle sped off and then turned around back towards the accident scene - but never stopped to render assistance. A part of the vehicle bumper fell off and is being held at the Village police station as evidence. The vehicle was described as a Toyota Hilux pick-up truck. The father of 3 is asking for the public's assistance to help with his daughter's medical expenses. He can be contacted at the hospital or through a friend at telephone number 6-1-0-2-1-1-8.
