Yohnny Rosado In Trouble With the Law And The BTB
posted (February 14, 2014)
Yhony Rosado, by now, you may consider him a staple on this newscast. He's often appeared as one of the fiery personalities from FECTAB, always fighting one battle or the next to try to protect their cruise tourism interest. But, 7News has confirmed that a simple charge of disorderly conduct, brought against him by his competitor, may be the undoing of his entire multi-million dollar cruise tourism operation. You may remember the name Vitalino Reyes Jr.. He is the man who accused Rosado 2 years ago of pulling a gun on him. Last year, after a lengthy legal battle - which saw Rosado spend one night in jail, he was acquitted of all charges related to that incident. Rosado was able to prove in court that the statement Reyes made was a fabrication.

But now, Rosado, is being accused by Vitalino Reyes Sr., his father, of allegedly punching him in the face in brawl that supposedly happened in the Belize City Tourism Village on Boxing Day, December 26, of last year.

Reyes claims that while in Fort George Tourism Zone, Rosado attacked him and they had a fight. The incident reportedly happened almost 2 months ago, but police finally arrested and charged him with disorderly conduct. He was arraigned today before the Chief Magistrate, where he pleaded not guilty, and was granted bail of $500. He must return to court on March 25, his next court date.

But while he is now forced to defend himself against another allegation, Rosado's tour operator's license is on the line. Now, Rosado's tour operator's license is what grants him permission as operator to run his business, Cave-tubing.com. Without it, he doesn't have lawful authority to conduct business, which means that he stands to lose millions of dollars. Viewers may also remember that the BTB reported that his licenses expired in December and that he didn't renew it. He was able to show proof that indeed he had paid, and it turned out that the BTB had made an error. He said that was no error, but a personal attack because of his outspoken style which often pits him against the BTB.

Well, he's claiming the same thing once again saying the BTB isn't even waiting to see if the allegation is credible or not. He showed court reporters a letter they sent to him. It said, quote, "Dear Mr. Rosado. This letter serves to inform you that your presence is hereby requested to appear in front of the BTB Board's licensing Committee. This meeting is to discuss Cave Tubing .com's Operation. The meeting is scheduled to be held on Friday, February 14, 2014, at the House of Culture on Regent Street in Belize City. Your attendance is very important to us. We look forward to seeing you." End Quote.

So, this afternoon, after he got bail, he had to present himself before the BTB Licensing Committee, but he took his attorney, Kareem Musa, to make representation of his behalf, which the BTB, according to him, did not want to allow initially. Rosado told us this evening, that his attorney is going to press to represent him in this matter, and he hopes that the Licensing Board will give him a fair hearing. We'll keep following the story.
