Police Get Trained In Handling Emergency Callers
posted (March 12, 2014)

Police are always responding to emergencies and people in dire situations, but in a natural disaster, that load of desperate callers is multiplied.

Today, the employees of the Police Eastern Division Communication center, 911 operators and other members of the division were trained on how to respond during a time of national emergency. We found out more at the Queen Street Station conference room.

Inspector Fitzroy Yearwood - Police Training With CEMO
"Our personnel from the control room, or emergency center for the Police Department, we have decided to cooperate along with CEMO, members from the meteorological service, the Belize Red Cross, and of course, a psychological aspect, we have a nurse coming in to help to emphasize people who work at the control room in times of emergency or disaster. Well, on a daily basis, we deal with emergencies, but in the event, we face one of those horrific storms, what they should and shouldn't do."

Eaton Williams - Communications Manager- Police Dept.
"It is one so many trainings that we are about to embark on during the course of this year, in order to enhance the staff of the communication center in terms of dealing with whatever emergency situation that may come our way on a day-to-day basis."

Presenters included CEMO, the MET Service, and the Ministry Of Health.
