Man Busted On Major Marijuana Move
posted (March 12, 2014)

Tonight, 29 year-old Cayo resident Adan Martinez is at prison after he was allegedly busted at the Novelo's bus terminal with 16.5 pounds of marijuana.

According to police, one of their officers was on foot patrol, and while at the bus station, he decided to search Martinez, who was carrying two knapsacks. Inside, the officers found 2 parcels of suspected cannabis.

Martinez was charged with drug trafficking, and was arraigned today before Magistrate Leslie Hamilton, where he pleaded not guilty, telling the court that he was given these packages, and that he didn't know what was in them.

His bail came up for question and Magistrate Hamilton adjourned the matter until the afternoon session to see if Martinez was eligible given the amount of cannabis that was found. When the case resumed, he was granted bail of $10,000, which he was not able to meet. He will remain on remand until he is able to make arrangements to do so.

He must return to court on May 23rd.
