Instability Continues At Belize Amateur Athletic Association
posted (March 13, 2014)
Hugh "Pinnaz" Staine was elected president of the Belize Amateur Athletic Association in October of 2013. His term should have lasted four years, but it hardly lasted four months. Staine today confirmed to us that he stepped down quietly some weeks ago. He told us it is to devote more time to his job as a coach at ACC and because he felt the executive was not ready to work with him. Second Vice President Jaheed Smith is holding over as President until May 31st. when an Annual General Meeting will be held to select a new president.

It's another major setback for the Association which was suspended by its parent body, the International Association of Athletics Federations last year as a result of infighting. Staine was not involved in the dispute, and his election was seen as a hope at a fresh start - hope which has now been dashed.
