American Social Studies Teacher and Pedophile David Wendel Thompson remains in Federal custody in Miami after authorities say he set up dates with two Belizean minors, aged 13 and 15 via Facebook. He was arrested on Friday in that city after he was denied entry to Belize.
Interestingly, the 48 year old Thompson who travelled to Belize nine times since 2011 has a Belizean flag draped on his house in Seffno, Florida.
News reports form the US cite tarsncripts of chat messages on Facebook where he tells one the 13 year old girl, "I will make sure u always have money.... and I want to always be special to u so let me b your first." He told the other girl, aged 15 "I just want to be ur first that's my present so I can b special to u."
When police searched his luggage in Miami he carried two brand news computer tablets,condoms, a drug for erectile dysfunction, and fliers for an un-named hotel in Belize.
Thompson has worked as a teacher for 20 years and is presently a social studies teacher at Centennial Middle School in Dade City.
News reports from Florida say quote spokeswoman for the Pasco County School District who said that Thompson will eventually be suspended without pay once he returns to the Tampa Bay area.
She said that so far, they have no reports of any misconduct on his part.
If convicted he faces 10 years to life in prison.
