DISPUTE STABBING…(UDPATE)
posted (March 18, 2014)
Our next story gets a little complicated. There are three elements to it - each progressively worse: a broken windshield, a burnt down house, and a man with a stab wound to the chest.

But it all starts with the broken windshield. On Friday night at 6:00, the owner of Kim's 2 - a Chinese store on Iguana Street found the windshield on his vehicle broken. It turned out that a boy from the neighborhood was flying a kite; it got stuck on a lamp-post, he tried to stone it down with a stick, the stick crashed into the windshield and broke it.

The nine year old was taken to the police station - and released shortly after. But the boy's detention got his relatives upset. That led to a confrontation with Anthony Leslie - who works for the owner of Kim's store.

He told us the boy's family accused him of setting up the arrest of their 8 year old relative. He explains how that led him to stab Leon Soberanis:

Anthony Leslie
"When I was walking in my yard, two of them approach me and start to attack me for the little boy who broke the Chinese girl windshield, but I made the police release the little boy. I went for the little boy and took him home. His uncle came to sweat me; two of them jumped me, one who is named "weezy" who the police had beaten up a long time ago, got me on the ground kicking me and beating me. I was kind of tipsy of drinking alcohol - I had a small butcher knife on my side, I pull it out and one of them ran left the other one. The next one stayed there attacking me and I stab him in his shoulder. When they ambushed me in my yard and I already all of that I went straight to Raccoon station to give a report. The sergeant who was taking my report from me got a phone call saying that a house is burning at Iguana Street extension. I ask the sergeant what color and how far the house is from Kim store and he told me the house is one house away from Kim store and the color of the house is yellow and white. I tell the police that that is my house, the young men burn down my house after they had ambushed me in my place. I stab one of them and didn't get charged for it - self-defense. They couldn't take it out of the people who they have something with, so they try to take it out of me because I work for the people (Kim store)."

"You could meet me on the street and beat me and left me in a wheel chair, but don't burn down my family house. I am not doing anyone anything. I am working hard for mine. I will not say I am bad or good, I am both."

Jules Vasquez "Are you shook, you scared?"

Anthony Leslie
"I still shook and I feel fear because the people who I figure burnt down my house are some dangerous people."

Of course, there are two sides to every story. And the people that Anthony Leslie calls dangerous are actually his neighbors.

They say that instead of anyone contacting the family to tell them what had happened, the police were called and she said they took the 9 year old child to the police station without any adult supervision. She could not comment on what transpired after between her son and Leslie because she stated she wasn't there. Soberanis was stabbed twice to his back and is at home recovering.
