PLANE UPDATE...
posted (March 18, 2014)
Civil Aviation investigators still haven't confirmed what made a single engine Lancair 320 crash at the Punta Gorda Airstrip last week Friday - injuring a female and leaving the male captain unharmed.

So far Civil Aviation has only confirmed that the plane made a hard touchdown and bounced when it landed, which caused it to veer into a Met Department weather tower quite a distance away from the runway. That tower clipped the plane's wing and sent it careening across the airfield.

So far the accident investigation team does not have a probable cause at this point and say they don't know what caused the hard touchdown.

The plane came in from Florida to the PGIA on Friday afternoon where it headed directly for Punta Gorda.
