Raylene’s Family Rage At Aracely’s Acquittal
posted (March 21, 2014)
As you saw in our story, Raylene Dyer's family is nothing short of furious at the outcome. Her throat was cut, she was decapitated, her body was thrown into a river, and it was never recovered. The 4 persons who were charged for it, got off of one of the more disturbing killings we've reported on.

While the rest of the family was too angry to speak with the media, Raylene's sister, Ingrid Cayetano was a bit more patient today, and she gave us a reaction. Even then, she didn't temper the rage that she felt when speaking with Daniel Ortiz. Here's what she told us about that fight outside of court:

Indira Cayetano - Sister of Deceased
"Put yourself in my family's position, how would you feel sir?" It doesn't give them right for what happen in Belmopan today. I will not apologize but thats how it went."

Reporter
"Now that the case is wrap up and its finally over, what next for your family?"

Indira Cayetano - Sister of Deceased
"Pick up the pieces and move on like nothing happened."

Daniel Ortiz
"But that instinctively, it seems difficult to do."

Indira Cayetano - Sister of Deceased
"I want you to experience what I did and see if you just close your eyes one day and act like nothing happened, but I wish them all the best. Thank God it's over and I am serious thank God it's over. My prayer this morning was Lord let there be done and if this is God's will, this is it, so be it."

And as you heard, Dickey Bradley, Cahueque's attorney, explained his clients version of events saying that the Raylene's family knew that she had borrowed the baby to try to fool her boyfriend into thinking she was pregnant for him, and that he needed to support her. He says that she got permission to take the baby, and that she did nothing wrong.

We asked Raylene's Sister to explain how it was that Cahueque became an influence in their lives.

She explained it to us, but first, she responded to Bradley's narrative directly:

Indira Cayetano - Sister of Deceased
"I want to answer Dickie Bradley who has put my family and myself in the media saying that all of us knew that Aracely Cahueque use to come and borrow the baby. She wasn't even my sister's friend. Nobody lend out a 3 months old baby. Aracely Cahueque attempted to thief the baby once she walked out of our house at Coney Drive with the baby. She ended up all the way in Belmopan, she waited until my sister was in the room and my mom went after her and call her and told her the police were going to get involve and then she brought back the baby. She stole the baby to show it to the guy who was in Belmopan. We didn't need to lend any baby and we didn't need her to help us bay anything for the baby because Dickie Bradley told the media that we always lend the baby so Aracely could buy things for the baby - that is stupidness and that is ridiculous."

Daniel Ortiz
"Now ma'am, while that may or may not be true the fact of the matter...."

Indira Cayetano - Sister of Deceased
"That is the truth, I am telling you. We never lend out no baby. Would you lend out your 3 months old baby? If we lend out the baby to her, she borrows the baby, so she lends my sister to the murderers then? I want to see my sister comes back. There was this guy name Austin Nicholas who was Aracely's friend, he knew my sister Raylene Dyer because she and him they both work at Ready Call. She worked at Ready Call during summers when she was at high school. Aracely told him that she wanted a baby because she had lied to the guy from Ontario and so he told her that he has a friend who just had a new born baby and he was the one, the first person to introduce Aracely to my sister. He took her to Coney Drive and she saw the baby for the first time at our house, at my mom's place."

Reporter
"And so she started visiting regularly?"

Indira Cayetano - Sister of Deceased
"I don't know how often she visited, but after she stole the baby that first time she wasn't welcome there because my mom had it out with her."

Daniel Ortiz
"Now ma'am, you keep saying that she stole the baby and like I said that may or may not be true, but we can only report the facts and the facts have presented so far is that she have been acquitted."

Indira Cayetano - Sister of Deceased
"Yes, she has been acquitted and I am proud that she has been acquitted, I am happy the case is finish. I wish her long life, I wish her happiness, she and her family God bless Aracely Cahueque, God bless Dickie Bradley, God bless judge Hanomansingh, God bless Belize - today is a good day."

Daniel Ortiz
"Obviously you don't believe a word of that."

Indira Cayetano - Sister of Deceased
"I do."

And as for Brandon Budna, one of the men accused and acquitted of Raylene Dyer, and also the key witness against Cahueque, Cayetano gave us a reaction to the assistance gave in the prosecution's case:

Indira Cayetano - Sister of Deceased
"It's very interesting because the 24th February when I was in Belmopan, Brandon Budna walked out of court behind his lawyer. When I was in Belmopan this Tuesday he had to be escorted because apparently his vision has loss so much that he couldn't even see well. That's just the beginning of what he has to experience. He is trying hard to block out what he has done because he has a lot to do with this case. He has his part that he played."

As we've told you, DPP Cheryl-Lynn Vidal has said she will appeal the outcome of this case.
