Man Shot In Ladyville Lay in Bush For Hours
posted (March 25, 2014)
Yesterday we told you about a shooting in Ladyville that happened right up the street from the police station. Reports are that the shooting took place at around 6:30 yesterday morning through a picado road that leads to the Japan area of the village. Corey Usher and another man were riding on bicycles when they were followed and attacked by a gunman. They tried to escape but Usher was shot multiple times - twice to the back and once to the leg. HE lay helpless for over 8 hours fighting to survive in the bushes. He was found at around 3 yesterday afternoon and was rushed to the KHMH emergency. Today his sister spoke with the media about his condition.

Voice of: Sister of Corey Usher
"He is doing well. He has lost a lot of blood because he got shot from 6am and they found him at 3pm. He was lying in the bushes for 9 hours, he ran far for his life. So right now he is doing okay. He is waiting for an x-ray to see of he needs to get surgery because one of the bullets supposed to graze his spine."

"And you were telling me that he also had a punctured lung?"

Voice of: Sister of Corey Usher
"Yes, that is being treated right now."

Reporter
"Tell us how he manages to stay in the bushes for 9 hours? What he is saying about that?"

Voice of: Sister of Corey Usher
"That's the thing; every says that God was with him because he went from himself 5 times and he came back. He was in the bushes for 9 hours with 3 gunshots, so it was like God was with him."

Reporter
"Does your brother know why would anybody want to attack him?"

Voice of: Sister of Corey Usher
"That's the thing that is puzzling everybody right now because we don't know why someone would want to shoot him. Recently on November 27th, police shot our brother Travis McKay in Ladyville and it's very rough for us right now for another one to get shot. But we don't know what the reason is."

Many are speculating that Usher's shooting may have been a direct retaliation for a shooting that happened in Ladyville on Sunday. But his family denies those rumours and say that he had nothing to with that incident nor is he familiar with the persons involved. Usher's older brother, Travis McKay was shot and killed by police in November of last year.
