And moving on from politics now to the most widely distributed book in Belize. Â It’s not the bible, but the phone book. 

This year’s directory was unveiled today, with its usual pomp and ceremony, and the image which made it on the front cover was captured by Darren Lamb, a tour guide from the Cayo District, who went out on a trip to Caye Caulker. His photo entry was chosen from a competition on Facebook in which BTL asked customers to decide on which image is the most appropriate.

Today, he received his prizes and recognition for capturing that image, and explained the origin of that photo:

Because his image made it on the cover of this year’s directory, BTL awarded him with an Apple iPad 4, and a year’s worth of free DigiCell service.

The BTL Telephone Directory has been around since 1974, and since 2007, the company has been producing it on their own.
