Weeks After His Death, Ishmael's Family Unsatisfied With Police Investigation
posted (April 7, 2014)
13 year old Ishmael Flores is the little boy who was knocked down in a hit and run incident just outside of Burrell Boom Village 6 weeks ago. He was knocked off his bicycle in the Buttercup area on February 23th - while returning from his aunt. After spending a week and a half in a coma at the KHMH, he succumbed to his injuries. Three weeks after his death, and still no one has been arrested and charged. His family believes the police are dragging their feet in the investigation.

Octavia Lucario, mother of Earl Flores
"From last night I told my gentleman that I am going to Channel 7 to make a report because I am tired of this. The police are pushing us around and we want justice, I am tired of it. Up to this moment we are not hearing anything. They told us that they will give us a call and we are not getting any calls or anything."

Monica Bodden
"You mentioned to me earlier that blood samples were taken?"

Octavia Lucario, mother of Earl Flores
"Yes."

Monica Bodden
"Explain that to us because we understand that a vehicle is at the police station that is supposedly the vehicle that hit your son."

Octavia Lucario, mother of Earl Flores
"Yes the vehicle is at the police station in Ladyville. My gentleman and I went to see the vehicle and we saw the blood on the vehicle and the dent in from my son."

Monica Bodden
"You strongly believe that this vehicle may be the vehicle that hit your son?"

Octavia Lucario, mother of Earl Flores
"Yes, I know that that is the vehicle and I know they police knows also. My son would not fall off his bike because a lot of time children would drop off a bike and they get their inside hand scrape and their knee. The way my son drop is like they knock him and he came down and knock on the vehicle - like fly up in the air and come down on top of the vehicle like on the side."

Monica Bodden
"The police say that they sent out the blood samples abroad?"

Octavia Lucario, mother of Earl Flores
"Yes, they told us that we have to wait one month before they get back the blood sample and they will call us. I don't understand why a blood sample will go out and take so long to come back."

Monica Bodden
"It's been how long now since your son passed away?"

Octavia Lucario, mother of Earl Flores
"It's about 3 weeks now. What I want to say to the person who did it come forward and come to us and tell us we are the one that knock your son - that is what I have to tell them because I have to tell them that just remember that God is the one that is going to be the judge, not us, he is the one and he will judge you because I can't take it anymore. Sometimes I feel like I am going crazy in my house. Sometimes I sit in that house and go at the back where his grave is, I go talk like I am going crazy. I mean, it's my only son and I can't make another child, I can't have another one. How would you feel if it was your child?"

Earl Flores Jr. was a student of the Burrell Boom Methodist Primary School.
