posted (April 14, 2014)
The pre-easter weekend was deadly in more ways than one. As we've shown you, there were murders, but there were also two traffic fatalities. The first happened at Mile 19 and a half on the Northern Highway where Raymond Allen Sedacy crushed by a Tillett bus on Saturday night.

We were on the scene, shortly after, and Daniel Ortiz reports:

Daniel Ortiz reporting
The body of Sand Hill Resident, Raymond Allen Sedacy, was removed from the Northern Highway, to start its journey to the KHMH Morgue.

He became the latest victim of a fatal traffic accident at mile 19 1/2. He was trying to cross the highway on bike, and he was a short distance away from his house, when he was struck by an empty Tillett Bus heading north.

The Rural Executive Officer, whose officers had to investigate yet another fatal traffic accident in his jurisdiction, spoke to us on the scene shortly after it happened.

ASP Chris Noble - Rural Executive Officer
"We had a traffic accident in this area. What we do know at this stage is that we have one male person that have been confirmed deceased. We have a passenger bus fortunately only had in two persons; driver and one person accompanying him traveling north. We do know that the deceased may have been on a bicycle and we are looking into what may have caused him death with a direction either way is unclear to us at this time - we are still looking into it."

A Sand Hill resident, who saw the whole thing unfold told was on the road side and told us that that the force of the impact LAUNCHED one of Sedacy's bike wheels at him like a projectile. He said that he saw it too late, and the wheel struck him in the forehead causing him injuries.

Voice of: Eyewitness - injured by bicycle wheel
"He was on the other side and I was on the next side coming down and it looks like he cross over and that's when the bus hit him."

Daniel Ortiz
"By your judging of speed and stuff was the bus coming extremely fast?"

Voice of: Eyewitness - injured by bicycle wheel
"It was on a speed; a very good speed."

Daniel Ortiz
"We noticed sir that you got injuries as well. Were you one of the persons who got hit?"

Voice of: Eyewitness - injured by bicycle wheel
"Yeah, I got hit with the bicycle wheel. When I turn around I just saw the wheel coming and I try to duct but I couldn't get out the way."

Daniel Ortiz
"When Mr. Sedacy was struck, did the bus drag him a distance? Or what happen with him when the bus hit him?"

Voice of: Eyewitness - injured by bicycle wheel
"The bus hit him completely off the road."

Daniel Ortiz
"Did you manage to run and see if he was hurt or if he was alive or what happen after the bus struck him?"

Voice of: Eyewitness - injured by bicycle wheel
"When the bus struck him I didn't even check on that because I knew he was dead."

The investigators will determine who was the cause of the accident, but Sedacy's parent, who raised him from he was young says that the bus driver and his company need to come and speak to the family so that they can come to an understanding. She says that it's the least they could do since a human life was lost.

Ramona Sedacy - Step-mother of Deceased
"I want them to come and take care of the funeral expenses and that's all I need to know. Come to the parents and say something, but up to this day I haven't seen them. I haven't seen anyone yet. They can't take his life like a dog because he is a human being. All the time things like this happen and we have to be conscious that all of us are human beings. God create us in his own image and this is the time that we shall come together and reason with one another because as a human being, all of us have love to our children - we have that love and we should be honest to one another and come and see what will happen and what will take place, but I don't s

een anybody right now, but I pray and hope that they will have that conscious mind and come and talk to me."

His family couldn't confirm Sedacy's exact age, but they told us that he was in his late forty's. The driver of the bus has been served with a notice of intended prosecution.
