Woman-On-Woman Stabbing On San Pedro
posted (May 15, 2014)
Tonight a San Pedro woman is recovering from a punctured lung at the KHMH after she was stabbed multiple times by another woman in front of her four children.

It happened on Wednesday afternoon inside Henry's Store located at the corner of Swan and Glitter Streets in San Pedro town.

According to eyewitnesses, Lorena Montes was entering her store when Roxanne Canul ran up and stabbed her nine times. Today Montes's mother gave us an update on her condition.

Rosa Perez - Mother of Montes
"A woman came to our store with a knife and attacked my daughter, stabbed her with a knife. My daughter was full of blood. She punctured her lungs. The doctor said that the wound was 6-8 centimeters and then she put the next stab wound in her neck and when my daughter pushed away the knife, she stab her in the cheek about 4-5 stab wounds. After that others came to defend her and stop the attacker. The wound in the back is the major injury."

"She always come to insult my daughter. Just last week there was a problem. It was resolved and I thought that was the end of it, but yesterday she told me what happened, how she came determined to kill my daughter because this is how she came. This wasn't a quarrel. She came determined to kill my daughter."

The background to this story is that Roxanne Canul and Lorena Montes have a long list of grievances against each other - and, as her mother alluded to, have had flare-up's in the past.

But what caused things to tip from hostile to violent is that hours before the stabbing, Canul's 15 year old son and Montes's 10 year old son had an argument involving physical threats. It is alleged that when Canul heard of this, she went after Montes.

San Pedro police have detained Roxanne Canul, a resident of the Airstrip Area in San Pedro Town.
