Today was teacher's day - which, for most, meant a day off, or away from the classroom. The Ministry of Education wanted to celebrate teachers for all they do - and in Belize City that meant an event of entertainment and diversion at the BTL Park. We found out more when we visited:..

"We plan this activity to honor teachers. Normally it wouldn't be that teachers go on a trip maybe in another district, but today we felt it necessary to give teachers that special honor and that is the reason why we are here today. We have all different stakeholders using some form of creativity to bring out that positive message that is around the theme "Quality teachers nurturing the inherent potential of our children" - that is what each stakeholder here will be in terms of using their creativity to bring out that message to teachers."
"Being a teacher myself, I think teachers carry the burden of this nation and it's a huge task and I think often times we take it for granted. Yes we have a teacher's day, but we find it very necessary to give that back that sense of appreciation for the work that they are doing in term of molding our children in this nation."
The Belize District event was geared for a thousand teachers and it was organized by the Belize District Education Office and the District Branch of the Teacher's Union.
