Cops and Pitbulls Clash On Cran
posted (June 4, 2014)

Tonight a family residing on Crann Street in Belize City is furious after police officers fired a shot at their dog in front of many young children. Just before 4 this afternoon, the search team stormed into the yard to conduct a search for drugs and ammunition. Inside the yard were 8 unleashed pitbulls. Family members say that the officers gave them no time to put away the dogs - before they barged in and started behaving inappropriately.

"Well, the police - two vehicle came with an attitude. They know that we have an amount of pitbulls in the yard. The first word that he uttered, 'hold those mother effing dogs because he will shot them. My sister told him that we can't hold all the dogs because the owner isn't here. He said that he doesn't care just hold dogs with more bad words. We were trying to hold them, but we couldn't so we got a man to come and help us to try and tie the dogs. When the man was coming in, he was finding all kinds of fault on the man who had tools in his back pocket that he does farming with. So, he cursed the man and ordered him to put the tools on the table. He couldn't hold them all, and he insist to come and bring his dog in to search. When we told him we can't hold them all, he said that we need to hold them because he will kill one of them. He was saying that we were trying to control the rest of police officers. How could we control the rest of police when they were doing their jobs? The police who were on standby observing already saw that he was in the wrong, and its like he was authorizing them what to do. We can't do anything because when they are around, we have to stand up and listen. Then, the dog ran out from under the house, and my niece and nephew were around. He just pulled out his gun and shot the dog. The dog ran under the house. My sister came and I told them to call 7News to see how they are acting, but you all reached a little bit late. He grabbed me, handcuffed me, and told me that I was detained. He put me on the step and tell me that I detained. He wanted me to sit on a dirty step. My mother tried to calm me down, and I told her that from the time this police officer came to us he came angry. He didn't even come like a man. The first thing he talked about is shooting."

Nothing was found on the premises and the search ended just before we arrived at around 4:30.
