Hon. Hulse says Ady Pacheco Never Gave Him A Letter
posted (June 18, 2014)

Last week COLA and its attorney Kareem Musa held a press conference to outline what they say are the major findings of the preliminary report from the Auditor General on irregularities in the Immigration Department. Â One of the most explosive allegations is their claim that Immigration officer Ady Pacheco said that she prepared a letter with a list of all the files that then Minister of State Penner had taken out of the office – and she gave that list to her Minister Godwin Hulse. Â Hulse says he never saw that in the report, and he got no such letter:

Mike Rudon - Channel 5 News
“But she is saying, as I understand it, that a letter was sent to you - that she sent a letter to you with a list of the files that Elvin Penner took out of the department."

Hon. Godwin Hulse - Minister of Immigration
"Never sent any letter to me...absolutely not...categorically no. So if she says that that is absolutely incorrect.â€￾

Mike Rudon
"Sir but, you have had the file - and I'm assuming you've gone through it thoroughly."

Hon. Godwin Hulse
"Which file?"

Mike Rudon
"The Auditor General's Report - the interim report. You never saw anything like that in her testimony, which is in there?"

Hon. Godwin Hulse
“That is not in the report, not the one I saw - that she sent me any letter with the files that were sent to Minister Penner she wrote to me. No, she didn't write to me. That is categorically - I can say to you unequivocally and categorically and accurately that the letter which was sent to Minister Penner with the files - all of us have seen that. The Police have seen that. The Ministry has seen that. The Auditor-General has seen that letter that said that Minister Penner received those files on that particular day for his perusal, Finished! Now we don’t have a letter, now do we have the file from Won Hong Kim. We don’t have a letter from Minister Penner or his secretary saying I have looked at these files and returned them to the department. We don’t have that. So we cannot at this stage say it. That is why we keep saying we don’t have the Minister Penner file because we cannot say if they were returned or not returned. He says it was returned, they say it wasn’t, so it’s he said, they said. There is no chain of custody of that. There is chain of custody saying that it went to him. But there’s no chain of custody to say it came back from him. That’s where we are with that."

We can’t say for sure what the Auditor General’s report states because COLA – which claims to have a leak of the preliminary report – still has not released it – which leads us to wonder if they do indeed have it.
