Rape Victim Says Adil Abdullah Lied
posted (June 20, 2014)
Last night, we told you about the arraignment of 65 year-old Adil Abdullah Bishop, who has been accused by a 19 year-old woman of rape.

Bishop is a well-known bail bondsman at the Magistrate's Court, and he's also a landlord who owns various apartments.

In this case, the 19 year-old told police that he deceived her saying that he had apartments at Mile 8 on the Western Highway that he could rent her. She claims that when she got into his vehicle one week ago, he took her to a secluded area near the Homeland Memorial Park, and with his gun in plain sight as a threat, he raped her.

Yesterday, Bishop was arraigned in Magistrate's Court for that Charge, and after he was granted bail, he selected only the freelance journalists who work the courts to grant an interview. His version of the story was that the 19 year-old had a crush on him for 6 months. He also claimed that she reported him to police only after she tried and failed at blackmailing him.

Today, the 19 year-old woman granted us an interview in which she responded to his allegations, but for context, we start first by airing his comments from last night:

Adil Abdullah Bishop
"This young lady text me and threatened me and tell me that if I don't give her $400 she will mess me up with the police. You see her text right there."

Roy Davis, reporter
"So Abdullah, that is the reason why she made that report that you raped her?"

Adil Abdullah Bishop
"Yes, that is the reason why she made that report, because I said that I will not give her any $400 to take her out of her man house because she told me that she wanted to move out because her man treats her very bad and she is not messing around with her man."

Roy Davis, reporter
"So you had dealings with this young lady for some time?"

Adil Abdullah Bishop
"Yes she had liked me for 6 months but she didn't want anybody to know."

Roy Davis, reporter
"I see. You want your side of the story to come out that you didn't......"

Adil Abdullah Bishop
"That I did not force myself with her and raped her."

Roy Davis, reporter
"And on that day when she said this thing happen, where were you?"

Adil Abdullah Bishop
"I was in Ladyville."

Roy Davis, reporter
"You were nowhere where she said this thing happened?"

Adil Abdullah Bishop
"That right."

Roy Davis, reporter
"And she sent you several texts messages?"

Adil Abdullah Bishop
"And that's what you see right here in front of you."

The 19 year-old woman who is accusing Bishop heard what he had to say on the news last night. Outraged, she called the media to her house to rebut a few of his details.

She wanted to face the press head on, but because this is a case of rape, we have to take steps to protect her identity. We can't show you her face, and have also altered the audio of her voice to keep her anonymous. She told us that Bishop's allegations are ridiculous:

Voice Of: Alleges That She Was Rape
"When I heard the news last night on TV I was so upset and he is just trying to cover himself because he knows exactly what I am saying, what is said to the police did happen on Friday. Why would I put myself in a position, put my name out there, my reputation? I mean come on, I am a nineteen year old mother of one. This man is wealthy and he has a reputation. Why would I threaten him for four hundred dollars? That doesn't make any sense any at all. Why would I threaten somebody who is out there for years and a veteran just for four hundred dollars? I mean it doesn't make any sense any at all. And if you guys, the viewers who are listening tonight if you guys watched the news last night, Channel 5 and Channel 7, he gave two different versions of his story, it completely states that he is lying. He is just trying to give me a bad reputation. I had no affair with this man, no affair any at all. I only met this man twice and that was last week. On Wednesday and I met him on Friday that was the only time I met this man in person. I had no affiliation with this man no affair with this man. And of course his family is going to back him up because they don't want their dad or supposing husband to go to jail but I would never put my life at risk or put my life on the line or my young child for what? For fame, for popularity? It doesn't make any sense any at all. I am not afraid, I am not backing down and I am taking this to court. I am not going to back down, I am not afraid. And if God is with me then no man should be against me."

As we told you, she says that she's had limited communication with Bishop by phone, and it was all about this supposed house he had to rent her. She says that the $400 she sent him text messages about was the price she was trying to bargain for rent for the supposed house he had available up at Mile 8 on the Western Highway. She says that he was asking for $600 per month, and she made a counter-offer of $400.

Bishop is out on bail of $7,000 after being arraigned by Senior Magistrate Sharon Frazer yesterday. He returns to court on August 5.
