Cervantes Sr. Still Missing, Police Not Saying Kidnapped
posted (July 3, 2014)
At news time tonight, 71 year-old Orange Walk business man, Ramon Cervantes is still missing. He was officially reported missing on Tuesday at around 3:30 p.m., and so the official count is at 51 hours since he was last accounted for by his family.

Today, police units from both Orange Walk and Belmopan continued combing the town and its surrounding villages, and a number of persons were detained for questioning. It has all been to no avail because there are still no leads as to where the well-known businessman may be.

7News understands that at this time the investigators are considering upgrading their inquiry from a missing person to kidnapping, but no official word has been released on that as yet.

Cervantes was expected home about 55 hours ago for lunch on Tuesday, but when he didn't show up, his family started looking for him. They found his work vehicle abandoned at his cane field off San Roman Road. They found signs which suggested that Cervantes was taken against his will, and so since then, the family believes that he was taken hostage, and that he's now being held against his will.

Still, as far as we have been able to determine, there have not been any demands to the Cervantes family or to the Police.
