posted (July 3, 2014)
Tonight former Mayor Zenaida Moya and her family are mourning the loss of their son and brother. 50-year-old Michael Richard Ysaguirre, a well-known fisherman based at the Conch Shell Bay Market died on Saturday from injuries he sustained a week ago. That's when he was involved in an altercation with a store vendor, who struck him across the chest. A Post mortem found that he died from a heart injury due to Chest Trauma, Blunt Instrument Type.

Today Moya told us what her brother relayed to their mother about the violent encounter:...

Zenaida Moya - Sister of Deceased
"This guy beat my brother. They said about 4 times to the chest with a piece of fiberglass and apparently that's what stick him - a part of it was lodge in his heart actually according to the forensics that was done by Dr. Mario Estradabran. That happened on the Thursday. He manages to get home. My mother tried to do what she could for him. I am not aware if he went to the hospital. I know that my mother was taking care of him and early Saturday morning he passed away and that's pretty much it."

"Was a report filed?"

Zenaida Moya - Sister of Deceased
"I am not aware that a police report has been filed prior to that."

Jules Vasquez
"So as far as the family's concern, is this a case of murder?"

Zenaida Moya - Sister of Deceased
"Clearly it's a case of murder and what Dr. Estradabran said according to him, he also classified it as such."

Reporter
"And now the police are following it up as a murder?"

Zenaida Moya
"Yes they are following it up as a murder. They were certain things that they were already looking at but they had to get this particular autopsy - the results what also what sealed whatever they were looking at."

"At the end of the day I will not say anything about the police, in terms of how they've dealt with the situation. I feel that certain statements were already made to the police and for whatever reason and that's what I wanted to know because whatever was sent out yesterday said that they didn't suspected any foul play, so that was what got to me because the statements I believe and this is after I know that the police had spoken with my mom and so that should have been something."

Police say no one has been detained but CIB is following up on leads.
