Mother Of Three Says It Wasn’t Her for Miguel’s Death
posted (July 3, 2014)
Police are also trying to make an arrest in last Saturday's murder of 22-year-old Samuel Steven Miguel. The young man was found dead at dawn on Saturday morning in an open lot across from the former Extra House on Cemetery Road. His head had been smashed with a cement block and he appeared to have been stabbed in the face. The West street resident was found wearing only boxers - and there was evidence on the scene that he may have been having a tryst with a female when he was killed.

One female from that area who was held for 48 hours as a suspect came to us today raving mad saying it wasn't her. Aloma Pike told Monica Bodden why she was wrongfully detained:...

Aloma Pike, Professes Innocence
"I came on the media because I didn't like the situation that I was in. On Monday the police pick me up, took me to the station. When I went there I ask the officer what I was there for. I had felt that somebody made a small false report about me - the police say pending the investigation of murder. I didn't even understand what pending the investigation meant. They say that I didn't murder, but that I knew about the murder that happened with the young man through the areas whom they found on Saturday morning by Extra House. I said officer, I don't even know who is the young man who they killed by Extra House. When I came off the bus Saturday morning, a neighbor who lives around "Pregnant Alley" areas who saw me at the market on Saturday morning and she told me that they killed a young man in front of Extra House or by Extra House somewhere. That didn't interest me, I was busy trying to beat done the people at the market for my vegetables and my fruits to go home back to wash my dirty clothes because it was Saturday and I am a mother. I don't hang out through there again, I graduate from there. Then now the police told me and he said 'babes, we don't want to hold you, but we have to do our job. More than one person from through the alley saw you carry the young man through the alley.' The police was telling me that the people through the alley jealous me and that's why I came on the media because I feel like they jealous me because I don't live through there no more - I upgrade myself in life."

"That is the main reason why I came on the media to say this. I am very scared, I am a jumpy person. People would hear that I was at the station pending an investigation for a murder and people try to kill me for revenge back or think that I hang or I live through there."

In this case, police are pursuing a number of leads but no one is currently detained. They also had a male suspect. Miguel who was in the youth apprentice-ship programme had just gotten paid 7 weeks stipend before he was murdered.
