US Fugitive Caught In Belize
posted (July 3, 2014)
Press reports of the US say that a fugitive wanted for murder in New York was caught earlier this week in Belize after being on the run for 9 years.

39 year-old US National Michael Young was extradited to the US after he was caught hiding out in Belize. Reports say that the authorities caught up to him after he tried to apply for a passport at the US Embassy in Belmopan. When his name came up, he was flagged, and then arrested by Belizean authorities who deported him to Atlanta for a parole violation. They notified the US Marshals who picked him up and escorted him to New York, where he was criminally charged with murder in the second degree today.

He's accused of killing a 47 year-old female in Staten Island on December 14, 2005. NYPD investigators say that he strangled her to death. He then wrapped her naked body in blankets and sheets before stuffing her in a shipping barrel and dumping her.

When police started looking for him, he then flew to Miami, and then fled to Jamaica, and years later, he surfaced in Belize. It is unsure how long he was in this country before he was caught.

He's due back in court of September 4.
