In December of last year the Christian Workers Union had a long delayed election for a new executive. The stevedores are the ones who put public pressure to force that election - but when the executive was assembled they didn't have a place on it. Deon Pitta who ran as a trustee was not elected because of a tied vote. So another election must now be held this Saturday and he discussed it with us:..

"Well it's just me and my opponent, we were tie on the 14th of December. But the position is beautiful and my position is that only me and the trustee so we will see how serious the stevedores about putting me there. It's there testament now; it is not a crowd and they have to pay attention more to their business. So putting me there and encouraging the rest of members to putting me there, we will run CWU the right way."
"Well I wish me and my opponent were here standing up facing the media because it is not war, it is not war between me and she. It's just for us to put our slate together and move forward. If it wasn't because of the stevedores CWU would still be where it was. Openly I will put that and I will never back down from that position because we have other people in other entities who are supposed to be guiding this thing. So my position will always be that the stevedores make this be where it is."
