Sonya’s Family Says Police Should Have Acted Sooner
posted (July 11, 2014)
And so, what's happening with the case of the other Orange Walk Resident, 46 year-old Sonia Maribel Abac? Her body was discovered on Tuesday evening, but the actual removal from chosen burial site happened on Wednesday afternoon.

Police believe that she was killed, and that is supported by the medical examiner's findings which has certified that her right jaw was bashed in. Rumors have been circulating around Orange Walk town that on April 23, when she went missing, she went to Manuel Castillo's house, to give his common-law wife a massage. Today, her sister-in-law confirmed that to us, when she granted us an interview. For fear of her life, she asked to appear off-camera:

Voice of: Annie Tzul - Sister-in-Law
"The body was being decomposed and from shoulder to knee it had a little bit of meat. I saw her intestine, both of her feet were like on a side, but they were bones. Her two hands and her head too was on a side. It didn't had any meat on it. It was something very horrible that I saw. Her clothes that she wore that day was there too; skirt, blouse and her underwear, her phone. I really got shocked because I didn't expect to see something like that because at first I only saw a piece of it and later on they called me because they had the rest of the body. Later they called me to see the entire body. It was something very disgustful, hurtful and like I almost fainted because it was horrible."

"Now ma'am, the big question everybody wants to know is who would take your sister-in-law's life and why? We are told that she is a humble domestic worker, she is also a masseuse. Tell us about the final day you guys saw her alive?"

Voice of: Annie Tzul - Sister-in-Law
"The final day was that same day the 23rd in the morning and she went to massage this Manuel Castillo common-law-wife and since that we didn't knew anything from her until that day they called me to go and identify the body."

Daniel Ortiz
"Now ma'am, the suspicion is strong in the public, in the streets. People suspects that Mr. Manuel Castillo may know something about your sister's death. Does your family feel just as strongly about that?"

Voice of: Annie Tzul - Sister-in-Law
"We have many suspects. We are suspecting of him and about 3 other persons. We don't know, but all they say is these 3 persons too are link to Castillo because one of them is Reuben who works with that guy and Reuben was my sister-in-law step son."

As we've told you, police want to question Castillo in connection to both murders, but the problem is that he has absconded. It is believed that he fled to Mexico.

Sonia Abac's sister-in-law told us that investigators have informed her that they are seeking advice before they proceed with her case.
