Yesterday, we showed you our extended coverage of interview with the Chairman of the KHMH Board, Chandra Nisbet-Cansino, in which she revealed the Auditor General’s office is being called in to investigate the recent purchase of X-Ray machines which is costing the hospital several hundred thousand dollars.
The board is trying to ensure the hospital is getting value for money, and today, we got a reaction from the Minister of Health and his CEO, Dr. Peter Allen, about the revelation in which mismanagement of public funds is suspected once again. Here’s what they told us:

"Is it troubling to you that this is yet another audit in a round of audit, which have uncovered some troubling things? Is this a matter of concern to you as CEO in the Ministry of Health?"

"Well, of course it's of concern, but I'm very proud of the fact that when we see things that are of concern, we take an appropriate response. Certainly, as you can see, there is never any attempt to hide or cover these things up, and indeed, in the case of Karl Heusner, we hope that there is nothing wrong, but we will await the results of the investigation that will be done an independent and official body, the Auditor General's Office."

"Everything is there on the board. The board will decide; although I am the Minister of Health, it's the board. The good thing is with the Chair, and with the Board, and whenever things happen, like right now with this purchase of the X-Ray Machines, she will come to us. What are we going to do? What do you think? And we do give advice; you know what, this is what is supposed to happen."
