Melinda Guerra Is Still Being Transferred; No Public Service Hearing Scheduled Yet
posted (July 16, 2014)

But, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Public Service, and the Auditor General’s Office is already dealing with the audit of the Central Health Region where $85,183.49 is believed to have been mismanaged. The main person implicated in that audit is the Central Health Region’s Manager, Melinda Guerra. Yet, there are works to transfer her from that post to another senior post. The audit’s revelation hasn’t stopped the process and today, we asked the CEO if it is still wise to make such a move:

Mike Rudon - Channel 5 News
"In terms of the Central health region, can you give us an update on the status on Melinda Guerra? The last we had heard she was to be moved to take over the Western Region as the manager, is that still in the works?"

Dr. Peter Allen - CEO Ministry of Health
"Well you know, I’m not entirely sure because transfers, of course again, do not come under the purview of the Ministry of Health but under the per view of the Ministry of the Public Service, so you best address that question to the Ministry of Public Service. Our recommendations remain the same."

Mike Rudon - Channel 5 News
"And those recommendations are?"

Dr. Peter Allen - CEO Ministry of Health
"That there would be some rotation of staff including managers around the country."

Daniel Ortiz
"But then the issue arises, why rotate Ms. Melina Guerra out of the Central Health Region to the Western Health Region, when there is this cloud of irregularity which still hasn't been resolved"

Dr. Peter Allen - CEO Ministry of Health
"Well again, that will be an issue for the Ministry of the Public Service and the Public Service Commission to decide upon. We are not aware that the Public Service Commission has set a date for the scheduled hearings, and we await as well as all of you"

Daniel Ortiz
"But sir the usual procedure for matters like this in example with the police, they put an interdiction, taken out of service, we must deal with this case before, so why isn't this being done with Melinda Guerra? Her sit out in terms of administration and let the investigation go to completion before she is activated in another position."

Dr. Peter Allen - CEO Ministry of Health
"Well as far as I am aware, all what you are saying is of course, your opinion and valuable, but as far as I’m aware, all the officers named in the audit report of the Central Region claim their innocence and have said that they are not guilty of any wrong doing. So we along with all of you all will await the hearings which will decide, what if, anything they are guilt of."
