Sports Camp For Albert

For the second year in a row, children in the Albert Division were able to partake in a sports summer camp funded by the national sports council. The summer camp catered to about 120 children, all of whom received certificates today for football, basketball or softball. They also received school bags with supplies, and sense of pride in participating:…

"I learned around the world and how to juggle."

"It's not only just giving money and sending them to school you got be behind some of them because some of them are marginalized kids who need real attention 24 hours a day."

"Did you have a lot of fun?"

"Yes"

"A lot of things."

"Which one was your favorite sport?"

Jalil Logue

"Basketball."

Hon Herman Longsworth

"At the end of the program we did it last year and we're doing it this year. The end of the program we gave a certificate of participation and we try to give school supplies to each child that participated. So we give a school back, some school books, some exercise books, pens, pencils, erasers, that sort of things."

While most children were chosen from the Albert Division, area representative Herman Longsworth said that children from other constituencies who wanted to participate weren't turned away.
