posted (August 14, 2014)
On Tuesday's newscast, we showed you the Tyrone Davis, the man who Betty Westby identified as the armed assailant who broke into her Crooked Tree home 2 weeks ago.

As we told you, the Betty Westby, the wife of Pastor Maurice Westby, bravely fought her attacker and protected her 82 year-old mother, and 14 year-old son. Davis is the main suspect because Westby revealed his face during the fight, but he hasn't been formally arraigned for any charges as yet.

One of the most concerning aspects of this attack is that Davis worked for the Westby couple, and it is believed that this is how he got details of the setup of the house, which he used to do this crime. He also reportedly had an accomplice, and so today, we spoke with Maurice Westby about aftermath of the crime on the wellbeing of his family.

He told us that their sense of safety has been taken away:

Pastor Maurice Westby - Home Was Invaded
"It has been traumatic and my mother-in-law and my 14 year old keep inquiring when they hear a noise if somebody is breaking in, so it has that effect. But my wife and I we have not gotten passed it per say because it's a part of psyche now, but we have dealt with it very well. Our community has come together to pursue the person that actually broke in. We believe there was another one, people have seen two of the together and so the police now has apprehend the main person who broke into the house. It was an arm force entry literally, and we will pursue this situation. As Christians by our faith, we will not say oh just let it go - no, he will pay or the two people will pay for the crime that they perpetrated against us. We will pursue it all the way along with the police."

Daniel Ortiz
"Sir, we understand that your license weapon is still missing, is that correct?"

Pastor Maurice Westby - Home Was Invaded
"Yes sir, it's a 22 long rifle. It is still missing. It has a short magazine that holds 7 cartridges/pellet bullets. It's still missing, they didn't capture the person with it because you know how people operate but we believe that in time it will located somehow because of the associates that that person has."

Daniel Ortiz
"Does it concern you that because this weapon, it's a license weapon, its use was supposed to protect your family - it could be use in a crime, does that concern you that it is recovered?"

Pastor Maurice Westby - Home Was Invaded
"Very much so. We believe now that because of the efforts of the police and citizens, even in Sandhill and the adjacent villages like Lucky Strike and so forth, people are on the lookout. They were telling me the other day in Sandhill - we know the guy, we saw him with the rifle, if we had known a little earlier we could have gotten the rifle. So people are on the lookout and I think there is no fear on the criminals now that on the citizenry of our district area."

Daniel Ortiz
"This matter with this particular individual we understand that you employed him. Does this concern you that now you trusted this individual, you brought him into your home, he work for you and he broke that trust when he did what he did - does that cause you to look at people more carefully?"

Pastor Maurice Westby - Home Was Invaded
"Yes it certainly does. We have exercise more scrutiny and know people's background. Not that you want them to bring a police record for a two-day job or something like that. Its just temporary employment that we give to the guys around in the village and this guy was known because his mother was from Crooked Tree. We knew, we have heard rumors that he was involved in a few things, but then like it was never proven, so you give him the doubt."

Davis was caught by Belmopan Police in Roaring Creek Village.
