For many, the inevitability of the ageing process is a disturbing thought, but for the organization HELPAGE, it's a mission. Today the organization held a one-day workshop with the aim of improving the lives of the elderly by bettering the organization. The facilitators of the workshop discussed how organizational wellness can contribute to healthier advanced years for their clients.

"It is a session to look at issues of governance. Governance issues getting them sensitised to articles of association, the memorandum of association, to look at policy and procedure manual to review our strategic plan and to get an analysis, because clearly governance about what? We are for the older persons and so we need to be sensitised to what our role is all about who we are serving, so we will be sensitizing them about the health issue, the housing issue, the economic issue and issue as it relate to their lack of knowledge of their rights and at the same time to share with them avaliable resources, to share with them the importance of partnership because we can't do it alone."

"We will be looking at the memorandum of understanding and those type of legal documents. We will also be looking at the strategic plan of action. Helpage of Belize has a strategic plan which covers a 5 year plan and it runs from 2013 to 2018 and we will also be looking at the policy and procedures manual. This is a document which sets out how HelpAge is supposed to operate."
It was a one day workshop. HelpAge was established in1985.
