posted (August 26, 2014)
Police have 2 suspects detained for yesterday's brazen, daylight, armed robbery which happened at the Heritage Bank on Barrack Road. They are awaiting an identification parade to determine of the employees at the bank can finger them as the robbers.

Police detained them based on images from the surveillance cameras. One of them was picked up from the Pinks Alley area, and the other turned himself in to clear his name with police. It remains to be seen if charges will be brought against them.

As we reported, the robbery happened at around 9 yesterday. Two unmasked men were buzzed in by the security guards on duty, and they asked to speak with a cashier on duty. When she showed up, one of the men immediately went to the cashier area and grabbed two cash pans filled with approximately 40 thousand dollars. They made for the door, and when the cashier tried to stop them, one of the men pulled out a handgun and ordered them to back off. The armed man then struck one of the security guards in the head with the gun, and they then dashed through the front door where a getaway van was waiting. Police found a van on Santa Barbara Street which they believe was the get-away vehicle. But, nothing was inside, and the robbery remains very much unsolved.
