posted (August 26, 2014)
Today we came across a report in an online newspaper called Novedades Quintana Roo which alleges that drug smugglers are using minors to transport their drugs between Belize and Mexico. The news site reports that at least 150 minors were employed to transport drugs in the rural communities bordering Belize. This has been occurring over some time now, last year the Municipal Police in Othon P. Blanco in Quintana Roo reported that trafficking takes place at as many as 90 spots along the Banks of the Rio Hondo. The minors are reportedly called "burritos" who are paid 200 pesos for every run.
