Neighborhood Alleges GSU Abuse
posted (August 26, 2014)
Just before news time this evening, 7news received a frantic phone call from an resident of Lake View Street - who told us the GSU was inside their yard brutalizing them. A team was sent out to the area, but when we arrived, the GSU was already gone. Residents say the officers did not say what they were looking for, and only stormed in and starting abusing everyone. They also alleged than an elderly woman with a fractured arm was pushed to the ground by the officers for no reason at all. Here's what they told us:

Resident
"GSU came and ran in the alley way and didn't ask any questions. My brother was in the neighbor house and they just tell them to get out. I came out to check on my brother because prior to this incident about 3 - 5 days ago they had an altercation with the GSU and they have beaten him before, so I came out to check on him and saw that they have my brother on the ground. They threw one of his friends over the railing, take another one and slam his head into cement wall and then after that I got to my phone to video record them because that is police brutality. When I grab my phone to record the video, one of the GSU grab the phone out of my hands and I told him that is my property and I am in my yard. When I told him that he got mad and slam the gate into my 10 months old baby's head. After that happened, they were still acting rowdy. While that was happening at the back here, at the front here they took this lady who just got a surgery on her left arm to remove a bullet. They told her to get down and she replied that she cannot get down because her hand was still injured from the surgery. They took the same hand that she got the surgery on and pull she flat on the ground, she cannot get up and it looks like they injured the same hand again and if we didn't go out there and help her, she wouldn't have gotten up because her sons are locked up inside probably getting a beating too."

"3 truck full of GSUs?"

Resident
"3 truck full of GSU and they came ignorant, not asking any questions that they came to search. All that they said when they left was that they don't want any hang out tonight."

The GSU has been to this property many times before because they consider an active gang area - and it has been the scene of shootings, and a murder some years ago.
