Was PC Blease Acting Lawlessly?
posted (September 4, 2014)
He's sworn to uphold the law but tonight, a police constable is in jail after he allegedly got lawless with a firearm. 32 year old Linsdale Blease of a Belama Phase one address in Belize City was charged for aggravated assault and wantonly discharging a firearm in public. It happened between miles 25 and 26 on the Western Highway in February of this year.

Cordel Duran alleged that between Miles 25 and 26, Constable Blease approached him, pulled out a firearm, pointed it at the ground and fired a shot. The cop and Duran allegedly had an altercation that day over a vehicle that got burnt up which purportedly belonged to the cop.

But, no charges were levied back in February when the complaint was made; however, the file was sent to the DPP's office and it came back today ordering that the police charged Blease.

In court, PC Blease was defended by BQ Pitts and pleaded not guilty to both charges but because it is a firearm offence, bail was denied and he was remanded to the Belize Central Prison until October 22.
