Police went pursuing a robbery suspect and allegedly busted 35 year-old Deshawn Craig with a gun. So, tonight, he's at prison after being taken to court for it.

The incident occurred on Monday morning just before 10. The police reported that they was pursuing a man who they believed was involved in a robbery attempt, so they visited Craig's residence. They said that upon their arrival, Craig ran out of his house and he threw a plastic bag over a fence. They retrieved the bag, and found that it contained a black 9 millimeter pistol with 6 rounds of ammunition in its magazine.

He was subsequently charged with keeping an unlicensed firearm, and keeping unlicensed ammunition. He was arraigned before Magistrate Herbert Panton, where he pleaded not guilty. Due to the nature of the offences, he couldn't be granted bail, and he was remanded to prison until October 24.

The police say they believe that the gun was stolen and so, they investigated its origin. They found out that it belonged to Derrick Hemmans a manager for Chukka Tours who was robbed of his gun and cash in mid August when a gunman hijacked the vehicle near the NAPA roundabout. Police then charged additionally Craig with handling stolen goods, and he was arraigned in Magistrate's Court for it. He also pleaded not guilty for that charge and was remanded to prison on that offence until November 14.
