Another Brutality Allegation Against GSU
posted (September 8, 2014)
It seems like almost every day our newsroom receives complaints of police brutality and general abuse of power. But today, it seemed like things got really out of hand over the weekend. We came across at least five substantial complaints of police physical abuse. And it can't all be fictional…

Here's one story, today a single mother of 4 says told us that the news is her last resort, since she has been complaining about police abuse to higher authorities since 2012 and has gotten nowhere. Here's her story.

Voice of: Victim
"I have been experiencing this problem over and over. I have made reports to the Raccoon Police Station since 2012 and nothing has been done. I even sat down with Phllips, she is a nice lady and she assured me that something will happen. I sat down with Mr. Broaster, I gave them my part of my story and still nothing have happen. I am sick, tired and fed up of Mr. Hanibab, he is the problem and the members of the GSU just recently as Saturday my so was coming to my house for something from his sister and he was knock down off his bicycle by the GSU unit and if I go to Mr. Flowers and tell him that this had happen he will benefit of the doubt to the GSUs. I am tired, I don't know where else to go. The Prime Minister has to do something."

"What reason they gave for knocking down you son?"

Voice of: Victim
"No apparent reason because they know that he was a problem in the past - no reason at all. When they come to my house, they come to look for drugs and ammunition. When they come they bring shovel, they bring dogs, they bring GSU. About a month ago the GSU's Corporal Galvez hit my son in the mouth and broke his front teeth and nothing has come out of it. I have 4 sons; 2 of them are problematic according to the police department. Alright, I understand that the police have a job to do just like any other job - if you have a job to do you come in and you do your job, but they do not need to use the force and the brutality that they are using and the Prime Minister cannot see it, the head of the GSU cannot see it because then they are not part of it and they will never see it because they are not part of it. I will not come on national television to say that the GSU unit has beaten up my son or did this to my son - I am not crazy if it wasn't true. I have evidence; I have pictures of my son's mouth when he was hit. This is what the police department is doing to people and people are getting tired. I am a single parent and I have never stolen, I have never done illegal activities, maybe they assume that my sons are doing illegal activities but I am not. Every time they come here "where are your two sons," my sons they do not live here. I've distinctly told them personally that the life that they want to live they cannot live with me. They do not live here. About a month ago the police men came. There was a W, I don't know her name, she came into my house and she took out all my uniforms, my granddaughter uniforms, my baby clothes from her bureau, she walk on it and she broke my cake blender. I told her, I said miss you don't have to do all of this and she emptied it more. When I told her I will report her to Ms. Phillips - they do not have any respect for authority. She said that I could go and tell Ms. Phillips whatever I want because Ms. Phillips can't do her anything. She said my number is 1077 and I told her I will tell Ms. Philips. You know how many times these people violate people rights here? I get to the point now that I am sick, tired and fed up. I think the Prime Minister has to look into these things. The Prime Minister can't be here, there and everywhere, but he is the head of this country. He must can do something and call in the relevant authorities and see what is wrong. Not everybody will get on national television and complain about GSU and the police if something is not happening. I have no objections to the police men, but I think it's the excessive force that they are using - that is what get to people because without the police we will not have law and order, but it's the way how they do their job - that's is all and of course I will go on like a monster with them because they behave like that."

Tomorrow, we'll talk to a few other cases of folks who say they got beaten up or terrorized over the weekend.
