There was a countrywide blackout last night - and during the outage, a Belize City man was killed in the quiet, dark night. It happened at 9:15 in an alley near Barrack Road in Belize City. Monica Bodden spoke to Gerald Palmer's family today:..

Monica Bodden reporting
It was through this alleyway known as Grants Alley - where 27 year old Gerald Palmer was gun down sometime after 8 last night.

Palmer had just left him home on Barrack Road during last night's blackout - and was walking through the alley- when he was attacked by a gunman.

The first shot allegedly caught him in his leg which gave him time to run - but not too far -because his attacker continued shooting with as many as 6 shots. 5 of those caught Palmer to multiple parts of his body.

The young boy; they better pray. I am happy for them who have dealt with this because they know who they are. I will not forgive them, they hurt me and my mom."

Palmer was rushed to the KHMH where he survived for almost 5 hours. He succumbed to his injuries at approximately 2:24 this morning. On last night's crime scene, police retrieved five 9mm expended shells and one .380 expended shell.
