You may know Elena Smith as a union firebrand who showed her mettle during the unrest of 2004 and 2005.
This fiery unionist, is also the strong and steady teacher at St. Ignatius Primary School.
But, she wasn't always so strong and sure of herself; she tells the I AM Belize profile, that it was because an adult touched her inappropriately when she was a child. She explained how she worked through that and found her love of teaching:
