Machete Men Maim Two In Cayo
posted (October 6, 2014)
There were two cases of maim over the weekend in the Cayo District. The first occurred on Saturday in Teakettle at around 6:30 where 24-year-old Aldo Moro was walking out of a store in the village and heading to his vehicle when Shaylon Santos walked up and viciously chopped him across the left hand and to the head in a single motion. The chop to his hand was so severe, that it severed the limb completely. Moro struggled to his car to get away - while police had to come back and get his hand, which had been left on the scene. Shaylon Santos is in custody and will be charged for attempted murder and maim. The two reportedly had an old beef.

And later on Saturday night in the Salvapan Area of Belmopan, 21 year old Edel Diaz, lost his finger to a machete. Diaz was socializing with friends at a bar located in Salvapan, when Clifford Alvarado chopped his left index finger almost severing it. Diaz was taken to the Western Regional Hospital but discharged himself. Police have since arrested and charged 24-year-old Alvaradofrom Belmopan with Maim.
