Dawn’s House Tumbled Down After Rain
posted (October 9, 2014)
And while that storm was whipping up last night in Maskall, this morning in the city - a woman's house just fell apart like wafer biscuits.

Dawn Philips had been living at her Port Loyola home for 14 years but this morning at 6:45, her life literally fell to pieces when her house tumbled down. We found her in a bad way this morning:..

Courtney Weatherburne reporting
This morning we found Dawn Phillips living on a septic tank in her neighbor's yard, cradling what's left of her belongings after her home collapsed early this morning. She narrated the frightening moments.

Dawn Philips, Port Loyola resident
"I woke up this morning and I opened the window and everything just crumble; the window and zinc and everything just crumble and then I got knock out and then I start to cry out - I just see the flooring just crumble on me. I don't know what happened and I said God help me and I felt like the world was ending."

The floor fell from under her but miraculously neither Phillips nor her 14 year old daughter were hurt. And while they weren't physically hurt, they were emotionally traumatized. And who wouldn't be? The place she once called home has once again been reduced to a mass of mangled remains and collapsed sheets of zinc.

"It's so shocking to me this morning, it was amazing my house fell on me."

For Philips it is the second time her house has fallen and she is making a plea for help.

Dawn Philips, Port Loyola resident
"I have nowhere to go right now. I am lonely and homeless and I really need help."

If you would like to assist Philips you can contact her at 661 8597. So far, Philips says that no one has contacted her in an effort to assist. We tried to contact her area representative Anthony "Boots" Martinez, but his phone went to voicemail each time.
