21 Year-old Stabbed To Death In Ladyville
posted (October 14, 2014)
The weekend tragedies continued with the murder of 21 year-old Brandon Lynden Flowers, a fisherman from Ladyville.

It happened in the early morning hours of Sunday. Flowers had gone out a few hours earlier to socialize, and his family received the terrible news at around 4 o'clock that he had been stabbed twice. He died on the spot, and at this time, the family is unsure as to why his attackers killed him, especially because, according to them, he kept out of trouble.

They spoke with us today about it. Courtney Weathernburne has that story:

Courtney Weathernburne reporting
In the midday heat, this area in Ladyville might look like a cool and inviting spot to relax, away from sun, but in the early Sunday morning hours, it became a crime scene.

It was where the body of 21 year old Brandon Flowers was found. The incident happened in front of his uncle's yard on Stork Street. A witness, Jermaine Westby, who lives in the same compound says that the killers followed Flowers to this spot to execute the attack.

Jermaine Westby, Witness
"I was asleep in my bed and I heard noise outside with the dogs and I peep through the window and I saw the dogs at the gate but I didn't see any further movement or anything, but I heard like the fence moved. So, I went back in my bed and I said that it must be crabs or something. After that I see the police coming. Somebody follow him from around the areas to make sure that they could have gotten him in this area here because this is the only area that does not have any lamp post lights. I guess this is the place that they chopped him."

According to Flowers' mother, 44 year old Dalia Flowers, he was returning home from a friend's house in Belize City when he was killed. It comes as a shock to her because her son was well loved in the community and she is oblivious to what led to her son's death and why anyone would want to kill him.

Dalia Flowers, Mother of Deceased
"He went to Belize City with a friend and when they arrive here, he went to left his friend at Mark Seawell house on his way home. He wasn't at a dance in Ladyville, so I don't know why they say that he was at Blue House Bar. The other brother usually goes to dance and thing and that's why when they came and tell me that it's him, I was telling them that it's Keron and they said no it's not Keron, they say its Brandon, the one they called "biscuit" because that's his nickname. I tell them no, because he is one who is normally at home every night. So it was a shock to me. I don't really know what happened, they just call me and tell that I should go under a plum tree because my son is dead. When I reach there he was already dead on the ground on the side of the street in like a shallow drain."

"My brother didn't troubled anyone. Anytime you ask him to go but at the shop he is willing to do it. This a shock to the community because he doesn't mess with anyone, so I don't know why they would kill my brother."

Today, the police also explained how far they've gotten with their investigations.

Raphael Martinez, Police Press Officer
"Police responded to a call regarding a fight in progress and when they arrived at Stork Street minutes to four in the morning on Sunday the 12th October, they saw 21 year old Brandon Flowers lying in the drain with apparent stab wounds to the chest. He was rushed to the K.H.M.H. and later succumbed to his injuries while there at about 6:30 in the morning. Police - I have personally visited the officer commanding Ladyville and they have detained quite a few persons in connection to this stabbing incident but the update so far I have not been updated at this moment. The initial investigations is only saying that there was a party, these young people apparently got involved into an altercation which resulted in the stabbing death of young Lyndon Flowers. As I mentioned earlier several people are being question at this time by Ladyville police and hopefully we will be getting some sort of closure to this latest stabbing incident."
