Ladyville Man Killed On a Dark Stretch of Boom Road
posted (October 16, 2014)
Last night, a Ladyville resident was murdered, the second villager to be killed in 4 days. This time, the victim was 22 year-old Gregory Richard Goodfellow, a resident of Perez Road.

Goodfellow has has a number of police encounters in the past, but the circumstances surround his death would suggest that he was lured, and then executed on a dark stretch of the Hattieville/Boom Road at mile 13 on the Northern Highway.

It happened at around 8 last night, where Goodfellow was reportedly picked up, and then dropped off to the area, where his killer or killers shot him as many as 8 times to different areas of the body.

Daniel Ortiz has been following that story, and here's his report:

Daniel Ortiz reporting
Seen here as the man in the maroon coloured t-shirt, surveillance footage captured at the at the Vin Li Shopping Center in Ladyville puts Gregory Goodfellow there at around 7:30 to about 7:50.

The entire time, Goodfellow was taking a drink and a smoke, greeting fellow customers at the shop. It appeared as though he was waiting for someone, and the last time he walked out of the frame, he reportedly got into someone's car and left.

About 20 minutes or so later, Burrell Boom Police received a call that there was a shooting on the Hattieville Boom Road. They responded and found his body in this secluded area, far removed from regular traffic and residential areas.

Goodfellow had been shot multiple times, including an injury to the head.

Inspector Fredrick Gordon, Rural Executive Officer
"Last night sometime about just before 9pm, the Burrell Boom police received reports of a person on the side of the road who appeared to be dead. The police responded to the area where we found a male person laying down on the right hand side of the road just about half mile from the Burrell Boom Bridge. The male person appears to be a very young person and the person had multiple gunshot wounds to the body, the hand and to the head."

From the circumstantial evidence, it appears that he was lured to his death.

Inspector Fredrick Gordon, Rural Executive Officer
"At this time the investigation is fresh, but we suspect that he was taken there to the area."

Voice of Aunt
"We got the understanding that he was at the shop when somebody called him and they claim to say that it was a female, but I don't know exactly who is the female."

It's a blow to his family, a 22 year-old father of two who had just married his wife a little over a month ago. Very fond memories, but police also remember clearly that he had a number of encounters with them. Goodfellow was a man with reputations.

Voice of Aunt
"I will remember him just like how he is; a father figure to his children whether he is bad or good because as you know it's not easy down the road right now but I guess that I will still remember his as the Greg that I knew."

Inspector Fredrick Gordon, Rural Executive Officer
"The fellow is a well-known fellow to the police. He has been in the police hands and so."

Voice of Aunt
"The conversation that he told me when he met me he said aunt, what are you doing around this area and I tell him that you know that your aunty likes her foot right. He said that he just came from the court. I told ask him when will he stop going to court and he said that this will be the last case because after this I will win the case and he will be over. I ask him to promise me that and he said yes aunty, I promise you it. And that is the last case he went yesterday."

Daniel Ortiz
"How will you be able to respond to those who say while you remember him as a good nephew, a family man, he was caught up in different things that are questionable."

Voice of Aunt
"As I said I will still remember his as a good nephew."

Our archives say that in January of 2012, he was charged jointly for robbery along with 2 other men from Ladyville who are well-known to police. 2 tourists and 1 resident from Caye Caulker told police that 3 men robbed them of their knapsacks which had over 5 thousand dollars' worth of personal items. Police set chase after the men, and one of them broke his leg when he fell into a hole while trying to flee.
