Gang Boss “Roger” Appears In Court on Crutches; Arraigned, Remanded
posted (October 28, 2014)
Tonight, 37 year-old Roger Anthony, the reputed boss of the Ghost Town Crips, is at the Belize Central Prison along with 23 year-old Kendis Flowers. That's after being taken to court for shooting up the Meighan residence. Anthony showed up walking on crotches after he injured the arch of his foot.

Both Anthony and Flowers were charged with attempted murder, damage to property, and aggravated assault. Anthony was additionally charged with keeping an unlicensed firearm, and keeping unlicensed ammunition.

As we told you, Anthony appeared beside GSU Commander Mark Flowers and announced on national television that he was leaving the gang life behind. 2 weeks later, he now stands accused of opening fire on the house of his rivals, Tyron and Ellis Meighan Jr.

It happened on Sunday night at Shelly Meighan's house on Banak Street. Meighan told police that she saw Anthony standing in her yard. She described that he was wearing a warm cap and a camouflage outfit. Meighan says that she shared hard words with Anthony, and immediately after, Anthony opened fire on the house. In the spray of bullets, 4 window louvers were broken, and Meighan's bedroom door was also pierced. There were also dents in the cement walls of the house.

Police were in the area and responded immediately after the shooting. They say they found Anthony and Kendis Flowers at the scene in the lot adjoining the Meighan house. They report that Anthony had a chrome and black Taurus brand 9mm pistol, which had 6 live rounds in its magazine in his possession. This is a first for Anthony; he has never been caught with a weapon at the scene of a crime. Kendis Faber, who is Anthony's alleged accomplice, has been identified to us by sources as Anthony's right-hand within the Ghost Town.

Getting back to that announcement which Anthony made on the news, he asserted strongly that he left the gang life behind because he has his wife and children who he needs to look after. So, if that's true, why then did he have a relapse? Two weeks ago, we challenged him on the strength of his resolve to stay away from criminal activities, and here's what he told us at that time:

Daniel Ortiz
"You have been associated with Mayflower for many years now, how do you get away from that reputation and try to disassociate yourself with that element in your neighborhood?"

Roger Anthony
"Well I just have to continue work, I am going to work, the guys that want to work with me, we gonna work and do positive things. It's not like I am going to move out or anything, it's just that we are going to do positive things."

Daniel Ortiz
"Are you afraid that by walking away from this you may be opening yourself up to those who may want to take advantage of the fact that, you know what, Roger gone soft."

Roger Anthony
"I am not going to be opening up myself. I am just going to be the same way; positive. I am around the same way. Every day is just going to be work, it's not going to be negative, so it's not that I am being soft or anything."

Daniel Ortiz
"What kind of influence are you going to try to bring to those young men who looked up to you at that figure - to try to describe, you know what, you followed me this way, this path, now you must follow me at another direction."

Roger Anthony
"Well, take off your tattoos like I did, not representing any gang and continue work and show society positive things."

Daniel Ortiz
"How do you - I am not trying to ascribe blame to you or to impute your character in any kind of way, but how do you walk away from all of this knowing that your neighborhood has been accused of many terrible things?"

Roger Anthony
"Yes but you can't look at the past, we have to look at the future. That's what I am doing, I ain't looking back at the past."

Anthony and Flowers were arraigned this morning before Magistrate Herbert Panton, and no plea was taken because all the charges will be tried as indictable offences. They have been remanded until December 18.
